About Me: My name is Kim. My daughter Kaitlyn (the third of our five children) was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes just a few years after my nephew James was diagnosed with the same disease. I’m excited to pair up with my sister-in-law, Jen, to share our story with you!

Hopes for the Blog: I’m really excited about starting this blog with Jen. I think that it will be really a neat experience to share what we’ve learned from being moms to our kids with type 1 diabetes. We share a lot of the same ideas, but we have quite a few different perspectives and have had to deal with very different issues with each of our kids as well. I look forward to exploring these thoughts and sharing them with other parents of kids with type 1 diabetes.

Kaitlyn’s diagnosis was probably the most difficult thing I have ever had to face as a mom. I don’t think I could have gotten through if it weren’t for the wonderful support of family and friends and especially Jen, who had firsthand knowledge of what I was going through. I hope that through this blog, I can be a support to others who are going through the same thing I experienced a year and a half ago. If some of the experiences and insights that I share will help even one mom get through some of the difficult trials of dealing with type 1 diabetes, I will feel that it’s been well worth the effort!
